The Los Angeles Rams remain in the NFC West mix after beating the New Orleans Saints on the road in Week 13, sitting one game out of first place at 6-6.

While the Rams have bounced back from a rough 1-4 start, they will need to finish the season playing their best football in order to have a chance of making the playoffs.

One area in particular that could use reinforcements is the secondary and particularly the cornerback position. With guys being in and out of the lineup all season, opposing teams have often exploited the Rams defense on the outside.

It appears the Rams are throwing a dart at former first round cornerback Emmanuel Forbes Jr., claiming him on waivers after he was let go by the Washington Commanders, per Adam Schefter of ESPN:

Forbes was drafted 16th overall by the Commanders in 2023 out of Mississippi State. Less than two years into his NFL career, he was waived and now gets a fresh start with the Rams in L.A.

The 23-year-old played in 14 games (six starts) during his rookie season in 2023 and recorded 38 total tackles with 11 passes defensed and one interception. Forbes then played in six games (one start) this season and had seven tackles, one pass defensed and one interception. Things obviously working out in Washington, so they cut him loose in just his second season.

The Rams’ starting cornerbacks have been Darious Williams and Akhello Witherspoon with Cobie Durant often in the slot. It’s a very young group beyond them and the hope is that a change of scenery will help Forbes reach the potential he had just one year ago as a mid-first round pick. If that is able to come to fruition then this could be a really savvy roster move for Les Snead and the Rams.

Rams receiver Cooper Kupp makes history

During the Rams’ win over the New Orleans Saints in Week 13, wide receiver Cooper Kupp made history by recording the 625th reception of his career, passing Keenan Allen for the most for a player in his first 100 career games.
