The Los Angeles Rams have plenty of questions about their roster, particularly on the defensive end as they’ll be counting on numerous young players to fill in at important positions.
The secondary experienced the most turnover in the offseason as the Rams traded away Jalen Ramsey but also let go of key rotation guys like Nick Scott and Taylor Rapp in free agency. In their place stand players like Cobie Durant, Derion Kendrick, Robert Rochell and Russ Yeast, though each defensive back doesn’t have much experience at the NFL level.
Los Angeles’ secondary could use all the help it can get, and in order to address the need the team went out and claimed cornerback Vincent Gray from the New Orleans Saints, via Field Yates of ESPN:

Gray didn’t make the Saints 53-man roster during the 2022 season, though he did stick on their practice squad. New Orleans released him this past Monday but now finds himself with an opportunity to make the Rams’ roster.
Standing at 6’2″, Gray’s got good size for the outside and could be a disrupter there. During his time at Michigan, Gray started 21 games where he was able to record one interception and one sack.
With so much unproven talent in the secondary, it feels like anyone could carve out a role if they perform well during training and the preseason. The Gray signing could end up being nothing but a minor move, but he and the Rams will have time to sort things out in the coming months.
Jordan Fuller prepared for leadership role in secondary
While the secondary experienced a lot of turnover, they do have some returners like Jordan Fuller on the roster to help ease the transition. Fuller is coming off a hamstring injury that limited him to just three games in 2022, but is expected to be fully healthy for the start of the 2023 campaign.
As the longest-tenured player in the secondary for Los Angeles, Fuller will by default be one of its leaders though that’s a position he’s comfortable in as he previously served as a team captain in his second year. This time around, Fuller said he’s ready to step once again as a leader and that should go a long way in keeping the locker room together.
