Rams Beating Chiefs On Monday Night Football Named Top Sports Moment At L.A. Sports Awards

The 2018-19 season was a memorable one for the Los Angeles Rams, winning their division for the second straight year and reaching the Super Bowl for the first time since 2000-01.

While they didn’t end up winning the Super Bowl, the season still provided fans plenty of great, memorable moments.

Perhaps the best of them all was their Monday Night Football thriller against the Kansas City Chiefs at the Coliseum last November. The game was originally scheduled to be played in Mexico City but was moved back to Los Angeles due to poor field conditions.

The two best teams in the league at the time lived up to the hype, with quarterbacks Jared Goff and Patrick Mahomes driving their teams up and down the field time and time again. Ultimately, the Rams were able to come away with a 54-51 victory in one of the highest-scoring games of all-time.

Everyone who watched that game knew how special it was, and it was recently nominated by the Los Angeles Sports Council’s Media Panel for top moment at the annual L.A. Sports Awards.

The awards ceremony took play on Monday night with Aaron Donald and others in attendance, and the Rams ended up taking home the hardware for best moment:

Goff threw for 413 yards and four touchdowns, adding another touchdown on the ground in the game. The Rams defense also came through in a big way despite the Chiefs putting up 51 points though.

Mahomes turned the ball over five times, with the Rams defense returning two of them for touchdowns. Additionally, two of those turnovers came late in the game with the Rams leading by one score.
