The Los Angeles Rams announced that they have acquired offensive lineman Austin Corbett from the Cleveland Browns in exchange for an undisclosed 2021 draft pick.

Corbett was the 33rd overall pick in the second round in the 2018 NFL Draft out of Nevada. He has appeared in 14 games since entering the league, mostly playing the center position, although he will bring depth to the interior of Los Angeles’ offensive line.

It is no secret that the Rams’ offensive line has struggled this season, and their need to add some depth became apparent when starting left guard Joseph Noteboom went down with a torn ACL and MCL in the Rams’ Week 6 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

Corbett does not have a ton of experience, but the hope is that he will be able to fill in for Noteboom the rest of the season as Jamil Demby struggled greatly after taking his spot against the 49ers.

According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the Rams are sending s fifth-round pick in 2021 to complete the trade:

Rams quarterback Jared Goff hasn’t had much time to throw this season and there haven’t been many open holes for the running backs, which could have predicted after the team lost two starters upfront from a year ago. The addition of Corbett is a solid start to fixing that issue, although the Rams may need to make some more moves if they want to get back into playoff contention this season.
