Following the loss to the New York Giants in Week 10, the biggest concern for the Oakland Raiders coaching staff was quarterback Terrelle Pryor and his MCL sprain knee. Pryor suffered the knee injury in the loss to the Philadelphia Eagles a week early in Oakland, but the injury wasn’t considered serious resulting the quarterback starting under center against the Giants.

Apparently, the Raiders are more concerned about Pryor’s injury than once anticipated according to Marc Sessler of NFL.com:

Raiders coach Dennis Allen acknowledged Monday that Pryor’s health is more of a concern than Oakland realized before the Giants game.

“It wasn’t something that we thought was going to be a big factor going into the game. But, obviously, it was a factor,” Allen told reporters, per the Bay Area News Group.

Pryor’s injury has been diagnosed as an MCL sprain and an injury the 24-year-old was capable of playing through, but head coach Dennis Allen says Pryor’s explosiveness wasn’t there via Sessler:

“It was obvious that there wasn’t that explosiveness that we had seen out of him prior to the injury. I’ll sit down and visit with Terrelle a little bit more and find out exactly where he is physically.”

With Pryor’s knee injury becoming a growing concern for the Raiders, the team may decide to shake things up heading into the Week 11 matchup against the Houston Texans. Although Matt McGloin is a rookie and doesn’t have the mobility of Pryor, the Penn State product is an upgrade as a passer in the pocket.

As of right now, it seems as though the team plans to start Pryor against the Texans, but that may change if his knee remains a problem.
