The biggest concern for the Oakland Raiders this season has been the health of the offensive line. The first blow on the offensive line was a major one for the Raiders with left tackle Jared Veldheer going down with a torn triceps. Even though many believed Veldheer might be done for the season, the 26-year-old has vowed to return and may be back on the field sooner rather than later.
Another injured player on the offensive line that has been sorely missed is rookie Menelik Watson. Although Watson has been injured for the majority of the season, the rookie has played well while on the field and may be a starter at right tackle against the New York Giants in Week 10 according to Scott Bair of CSNBayArea.com via Twitter:
With Watson more than likely getting the nod at right tackle against the Giants, the protection up front may be much improved moving forward and closer to what the coaching staff envisioned before the season got underway.
As for Veldheer, the return date of the veteran remains up in the air. Veldheer was hoping to get back on the field for Week 9 against the Philadelphia Eagles, but that didn’t happen and there has been no new developments about when he might return.
