Coming into the season the biggest question about the Raiders was who was going to play quarterback. As we hit Week 12, quarterback questions remain for the Silver and Black. This week, head coach Dennis Allen has named undrafted rookie Matt McGloin the starter for the second consecutive week.
With Terrelle Pryor sidelined for Week 11, McGloin stepped up and threw three touchdown passes against the stout Houston Texans defense and led the Raiders to a 28-23 victory. The coaches clearly have confidence in McGloin and another stellar performance could lead to a tough decision for Allen once Pryor is fully healthy.
On the opposite end of the spectrum is first round pick D.J. Hayden was placed on injured reserve this week due to a groin injury. Hayden had flashed some promise, but also had some very bad games, particularly against the Philadelphia Eagles when he was burned on numerous occasions by Eagles WR Riley Cooper. Hayden will now have a whole year to get his injury issues under control so we can see whether he will be the next great Raiders corner.
