The Oakland Raiders announced that they will be hosting the Los Angeles Rams for a couple of joint practices to wrap up Training Camp in Napa, Calif. this year.

The Raiders plan to welcome the Rams in the first week of August before they square off in the preseason opener. While there is not much at stake for either team, the influx of star power form both teams should provide quite a spectacle for fans to marvel at.

There were some parallels that were drawn between both teams last year leading up to their showdown in the season opener due to the history between head coaches Sean McVay and Jon Gruden. Although they enjoyed vastly different outcomes in the 2018 campaign, it is safe to say that both teams still have high expectations going into the 2019 NFL season.

The Rams also recently announced their schedule for Training Camp, which will feature seven practices open to the public. It is now clear that they plan to round up their offseason activities by getting well-acquainted with this new-look Raiders team.

While Los Angeles was able to go 2-0 during last year’s matchups, it could very well tilt in Oakland’s favor this time around. McVay has become notorious for sitting out his starters for the bulk of the preseason, however, Gruden has plenty of new faces he will need to get assimilated by the time the regular season rolls around.

The Rams are scheduled to be away from home for quite some time with planned trips to Oakland and Hawaii to square off against the Dallas Cowboys before coming back for the final two weeks of the preseason. Although they will undoubtedly be looking to put on a good showing with their backups, there is no question that the focus is to be 100 percent healthy by the start of the 2019 campaign.
