The Pro Football Writers of America have named safety Quentin Lake the winner of the Los Angeles Rams Good Guy Award for 2025.
The winner was chosen by the Los Angeles chapter of the PFWA, with the award going to a player who makes himself available and accountable and helps the group tell the story of the team.
The PFWA credited Lake for being available throughout the season, no matter what was going on good or bad with the team or him personally on or off the field. Lake was gracious in his acceptance of the award, praising the L.A. media and discussing his love for the game, via Stu Jackson of TheRams.com:
“You guys make my job easy because you guys have helped me a lot, have showed so much support and it’s great conversation,” Lake said to the group. “And honestly, for me, it’s like, I love talking about the game, and it’s really easy to talk to people like you because you guys are genuine and authentic to who you are. And it’s fun for me because, as a player, you kind of wish to be in the media sometimes, to be in the spotlight a little bit, and you guys give me the avenue to do that. I appreciate you guys, too.”
Lake has become a vital part of the Rams operation both on and off the field. That became even more clear since injuring his elbow in Week 11. The Rams secondary has not looked the same in the six weeks since his absence, and he was rewarded for his impact with a contract extension while still on injured reserve.
The Rams have plenty of meaningful football ahead of them, and Lake figures to be a part of all of it, while helping the media tell the best story possible about the team.
Quentin Lake injury update
The Rams have opened the 21-day practice window for Lake, but he is not expected to play in Sunday’s regular season finale against the Arizona Cardinals. It’s not clear what his status would be if this game had any standings significance, but since the Rams are going to be either the No. 5 or No. 6 seed regardless of their result on Sunday, they decided to hold him back.
It’s looking more and more likely that Lake will be back in action when the Rams head on the road to face either the No. 3 or No. 4 seed during Wild Card Weekend.
