Puka Nacua is eligible to sign a lucrative contract extension with the Los Angeles Rams this offseason, but so far, the sides have not been able to get a deal done.

Part of that could be related to Nacua’s recent off-the-field trouble as a previous report indicated the team wanted to see some improvement in his behavior before committing to a long-term contract.

Nacua made it clear during an appearance at Fanatics Fest that his hope is to remain with the Rams.

“That’s the plan,” he said.

Even though they haven’t been able to reach a deal yet, the Rams know how special of a talent Nacua is and are supporting him every step of the way.

Nacua has established himself as one of the top wide receivers in all of football since being drafted by the team in 2023, and with Matthew Stafford back at quarterback, the fourth-year wideout could reach even greater heights next season.

Nacua is coming off his best season yet with the Rams, catching an NFL-best 129 passes for 1,715 yards and 10 touchdowns in 16 games (15 starts). The 25-year-old was able to put up those numbers despite missing a full game and parts of two others due to injury.

When the dust settles after that, the Rams will likely make Nacua the new highest-paid wide receiver in NFL history as he has statistically outperformed Smith-Njigba in several categories since entering the league in 2023.

Calvin Johnson believes Puka Nacua could break his receiving record

Stafford knows a thing or two about throwing to generational talents as he previously formed one of the best quarterback-wide receiver duos with Calvin Johnson on the Detroit Lions.

Johnson recorded an NFL-record 1,964 receiving yards in 16 games during the 2012 season and thinks Nacua can eventually top that number.

Johnson also believes Nacua has a bright future and said he would try attending the game that he potentially breaks his receiving record in.
