Oakland Raiders Sign Inside linebacker Jamar Chaney

With their linebacking corps suffering a number of injuries, the latest forcing Nick Roach to the injured reserve list, the Oakland Raiders have officially announced the signing of Jamar Chaney:

Chaney is in his fifth season in the NFL out of Rutgers University, and started the entirety of the 2011 season for the Eagles, where he recorded 92 total tackles, eight passes defended, three interceptions and one sack. Chaney was most recently waived by the Denver Broncos, after spending the 2014 offseason with the team.

The Raiders have now had to sign two new linebackers this week due to injuries to athletes that were supposed to contribute.

Ray Ray Armstrong was signed to the 53-man squad due to Kaluka Maiava being placed on IR after he suffered a hamstring injury against the Miami Dolphins in their last game before the bye-week.

While Miles Burris has been ineffective, Sio Moore has had a few injury issues to deal with as well.

Khalil Mack has been the lone star out of the linebackers. Mack has started all three games for the Raiders, and has shown that he can get into the backfield to put pressure on the quarterback as well as set the edge on running plays.

The linebacker group was supposed to be the strongest of the group on defense, but has been struck with the injury bug and is struggling to get back into shape.
