NFL News: Ravens’ Ray Lewis Says Ready To Face Colts

USATSI_7618857_154224518_lowresAfter much speculation throughout the 2012 NFL season, one-time Super Bowl champion Ray Lewis made the decision that this season will be last his last. The superstar linebacker is tired of battling through injuries over the past few years and believes it is finally time to walk away from the game that he loves.

As a result of Lewis’ retirement announcement, the playoff game against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday may be his last in the NFL. The Baltimore Ravens are favored to get the best of Andrew Luck and company this weekend, but there’s a chance the resurgent Colts are able to do enough against the Ravens to pull off the upset and advance to the next round.

Although Lewis has been expected to play in the Ravens’ first playoff game, there remained some uncertainty as to whether or not he’d be good to go or able to play at the level he’s accustomed to.

Fortunately for Baltimore, Lewis is confident that he’s ready to get back on the field for perhaps the final time in his Hall of Fame caliber career. Ravens head coach John Harbaugh claims that Lewis will be at full speed on Sunday according to Dan Hanzus of NFL.com:

Ray Lewis is ready to go in what could be his final game.

Baltimore Ravens coach John Harbaugh said Friday that Lewis is prepared to play at full speed in Sunday’s wild-card playoff matchup against the Indianapolis Colts.

The Colts have been labeled the underdog all season long and are not unfamiliar with the situation that they’re faced with coming into Sunday’s game at M&T Bank Stadium.

With head coach Chuck Pagano back on the sidelines calling the shots and Luck playing extremely well under center, Indianapolis will have a legitimate shot of pulling off the upset.
