USATSI_8314982_154224518_lowresThe 2012 NFL season has been rough to say the least for the Dallas Cowboys as they will head into Week 10 with a two-game losing streak and a disappointing record of 3-5.

The loss to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 9 may have been the straw that broke the camel’s back with talk of Sean Payton potentially being on Jerry Jones’ radar and Tony Romo inching closer and closer to the bench.

Fortunately, the Cowboys received some good news after the loss about the injuries to Romo’s back and Jay Ratliff’s ankle injury according to Todd Archer of ESPNDallas.com:

“IRVING, Texas — Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo does not need an MRI because of a back strain, and nose tackle Jay Ratliff did not suffer his second high left ankle sprain of the season.”

Over the course of first eight games of the season, Romo hasn’t made much of a case to keep his job as the starting quarterback in Dallas. The veteran quarterback still deals with turnover problems and sits only behind Matt Cassel of the Kansas City Chiefs in that category with 13 interceptions and four fumbles.

With two games of four interceptions or more this season, Romo isn’t cutting in Dallas and may be headed to the bench in favor of Kyle Orton in the near future. Only time will tell if Romo can ultimately bounce back and prove to the coaching staff that he’s the right man for the job under center.

In the meantime, no official change has been made to the position by head coach Jason Garrett. Although that remains the case heading into Week 10, that may very well change with another loss or bad game in the turnover department for Romo.
