The Jaguars have listed Robinson as an “offensive weapon” in their roster. When asked what the term “offensive weapon” entails, Robinson replied,
“That means I can play multiple positions,” he said.
The Wolverine phenom is prepared and excited to play in the NFL, for him it is a completion of a dream being fulfilled. Robinson has worked his whole life to get into the NFL, and now he is there.
“It’s a great feeling to sign my first NFL contract,” Robinson said in a statement from the team.
“It’s something I’ve been waiting my whole life for, and I’m ready to get to camp later this month and get back to work.
I was able to get a feel for the NFL game during the offseason, and I look forward to getting the pads on and just keep improving with each practice.”
The team is also looking forward to the signing of Robinson. Denard will be used as a utility can-do everything type of offensive player for Jacksonville.
“We are excited to get Denard under contract,” Jaguars general manager David Caldwell said in the statement. “He had a very productive offseason for us and will continue to get better with each practice. He’s passionate about football and has been a very good team player.”
Denard is the NCAA career quarterback leader for rushing yards with 4,495 total yards. In Robinson’s senior season with Michigan, he rushed for 1,266 yards and seven touchdowns, and he passed 1,319 yards with nine passing touchdowns.
The Jaguars hope that the legacy that Denard left at Michigan will translate into productivity in the NFL.
