USATSI_8291267_154224518_lowresback in July, charges were filed for domestic violence on Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant after he allegedly assaulted his mother, Angela Bryant.

Shortly after the news broke about the third-year wideout facing charges, Bryant’s mother said she didn’t want to proceed with the charges and had worked things out with her son.

Unfortunately for Bryant, these charges will not be dropped according to Calvin Watkins of ESPNDallas.com:

“Charges alleging domestic violence filed against Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant will not be dismissed, according to Dallas County district attorney Craig Watkins.

“Watkins’ office confirmed to ESPNDallas.com on Wednesday that it has accepted the Class A misdemeanor family violence charges from the DeSoto Police Department and the case is under review.”

After seemingly dodging another bullet with Bryant getting in trouble with the law once again, the Cowboys continue to deal with problems with the up-and-coming wide receiver out of Oklahoma State.

The NFL will determine whether or not Bryant is in violation of the league’s discipline policy and as a result may suspend or fine the Cowboys receiver.

In seven games this season, Bryant has racked up 488 receiving yards on 41 receptions with two touchdowns. Fairly mediocre numbers for a receiver as talented as Bryant, but the Cowboys have struggled this season with only three wins thus far and are in danger of missing the playoffs if the team can’t turn things around in the second half of the season.

If the Cowboys continue failing to live up to expectations this year, many changes may follow for the storied NFL franchise before heading into next season. Quarterback Tony Romo and Cowboys Coach Jason Garrett are already on the hot seat in Dallas and will continue to have their jobs on the line moving forward.
