The Los Angeles Rams should have some real cap space to play with in 2025. Over The Cap projects them to have around $38 million in space before making any moves with Cooper Kupp and other possible renegotiations. Given that they were a play away from the NFC Championship Game this season, having money to work with makes them a major team to watch this offseason.
With the team’s plans to trade Kupp, they will be in the market for a new second wide receiver next to Puka Nacua. They could choose to draft one and use their money elsewhere, or they could get one in free agency or via trade. If they choose to go the veteran route, one potential option could be New York Jets wideout Davante Adams.
The Jets are facing a monumental offseason after their Aaron Rodgers experiment crashed and burned in 2024. If they choose not to keep him — or he chooses to retire — they could look to move off of some of their more expensive veterans like Adams. In that case, the Rams are a team of interest for the superstar, according to Jeremy Fowler and Dan Graziano of ESPN:
The Jets must address the future of receiver Davante Adams, whose $38.3 million cap hit is untenable. A source told me Adams is intrigued by a return to the West Coast and would be open to potentially joining teams such as the Rams or Chargers — if he gets released. I would put the 49ers in the conversation, too. Adams grew up in Northern California.
Adams, 32, may be past his true superstar years. But he is without a doubt still an effective wide receiver. He split time between the Las Vegas Raiders and Jets in 2024. But in 14 games — three with the Raiders and 11 with the Jets — he posted 1,063 yards and eight touchdowns. He had a ridiculous 43 touchdowns and 4,443 yards between 2020-22, when he made the All-Pro first team all three years.
The Rams landing Adams would be an upgrade from Kupp and would be a perfect complement to Nacua in Sean McVay’s offensive system. But his search is not limited to just the Rams, and the L.A. Chargers are certainly more in need of a WR1 than the Rams.
That will be an interesting offseason development to watch in New York.
Rams stars being recruited to Giants
Giants star wide receiver Malik Nabers wants to help turn around his team’s fortunes. One way he wants to do that is by bringing both Cooper Kupp and Matthew Stafford to East Rutherford. It would certainly make the Giants a better team, but seems very unlikely with L.A.’s reported intention to keep Stafford.
