There was plenty of speculation regarding the future of Dante Fowler Jr. this offseason but it appears the Los Angeles Rams have managed to lock him up for the 2019 NFL season.

Fowler’s time with the Jacksonville Jaguars had run its course during the 2018 NFL season. As a result, the Rams made quite the investment when they acquired him in exchange for a third and fifth-round pick despite his status as a free agent after the season.

Regardless, Fowler managed to give the Rams some bang for their buck down the stretch. It seems he has also taken a liking to his new surroundings.

According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, Folwer and the Rams have agreed to a one-year deal:

This is certainly a big signing for Los Angeles. Providing defensive tackle Aaron Donald with some help up front was undoubtedly a priority for them this offseason and they were able to address the issue relatively quickly.

Fowler finished the 2018 campaign with 21 tackles, two sacks, a pass defended, and a forced fumble in eight games. He made an even bigger impact during the postseason with a number of clutch plays, including the hit on Drew Brees in overtime which resulted in an interception and a trip to Super Bowl LIII.

The move certainly makes plenty of sense for Fowler as well since many expected he was due for a rather lucrative payday this offseason. However, it is safe to say that his prospects would likely look much greater if he is able to potentially win a Super Bowl with the Rams next season.
