The Los Angeles Rams made headlines with the signing of Eric Weddle and despite recent speculation, he feels he still has plenty left in the tank.

The Baltimore Ravens ushered in a bit of a youth movement this offseason that led them to part ways with a number of key veterans such as Weddle. It did not take him long to find a new home in his native Southern California.

There is no question the Rams made a splash with the addition of Weddle. However, there are some that are skeptical about placing high expectations on a player who is perhaps entering the final stretch of his career.

Fortunately, Weddle feels he still has yet to hit his prime, via the team’s official website:

“I haven’t hit my prime yet!” Weddle said. “From the onset, when you get a game plan together and think what the future holds, obviously the Rams were my No. 1 destination.”

The prospect of a 34-year-old still looking to enter his prime may seem a bit far-fetched. However, Weddle may be one of the few cases that solidify this notion.

The veteran has long been considered one of the premier safeties in the league following successful stints with the Ravens and Los Angeles Chargers. The five-time All-Pro also earned his third straight trip to the Pro Bowl after finishing the 2018 NFL season with 68 tackles, a sack, and three pass deflections.

At this point, it is safe to say that Weddle is still at the top of his game. This is certainly great news for the Rams since they are hoping his arrival will help stabilize a secondary that was rather generous to opposing offenses last season.
