The Eagles found themselves with 1st and goal four times in an absolute must win against the New Orleans Saints and came away with two field goals, a fumble and Patrick Robinson’s 99-yard interception return for a touchdown.
Michael Vick found himself under pressure all game being sacked seven times and hit another 12 times against a team that struggled to get any kind of pressure on opposing quarterbacks all season. According to ESPN.com, Michael Vick was frustrated after the game.
“It’s very frustrating,” Vick said. “These are games that we have the opportunity to win, or get back in the game. At this point, everything has to be dead on. You can’t miss, and you almost have to be perfect on every drive.”
For the Saints, however, they seemingly have new life heading into the second half of the season. They’re only 3-5 just like the Eagles, but they’ve been trending up with three wins in their last four games, the offense picking up and now the defense is starting to get stops.
Up next, the Saints have a huge matchup with the undefeated Atlanta Falcons which could either keep their momentum going or all but eliminate them from post season contention. Only seven teams in NFL history have come back from a 3-5 start to make the post season. No team has 3-6 and made the post season.
