Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against the Chicago Bears on Sunday Night Football in Week 1.

The game was the highly-anticipated Rams debut of Stafford after the team completed a blockbuster trade to acquire him from the Detroit Lions in the offseason.

Considering Stafford didn’t play a single snap in the preseason, no one was quite sure what he would look like in Sean McVay’s offense. Many predicted that they would work well together and those people were right as Stafford complete 20-of-26 passes for 321 yards and three touchdowns, leading the league with a 156.1 rating.

Stafford and the Rams offense got off to a hot start against the Bears as Stafford completed a 67-yard touchdown pass to Van Jefferson on just their third play from scrimmage. He also later found Cooper Kupp for a 56-yard touchdown, adding the deep ball to a Rams offense that severely lacked it in recent years.

In seven total drives in the game, Stafford led the Rams to four touchdowns and two field goals compared to just one punt, being able to move the ball in a variety of ways.

While it was just one game, Stafford’s debut definitely has Rams fans feeling excited about what is to come this season. The Super Bowl is at SoFi Stadium this year and if Week 1 is any indication, then the Rams will have a solid chance of playing in their home stadium this February.
