This is a big offseason for the Los Angeles Rams as coming off a trip to the divisional round, they have the ability the make necessary improvements to get back into Super Bowl contention.
The biggest question mark though is the future of quarterback Matthew Stafford as the 37-year-old does not have any guaranteed money left on his contract. He intends to play in 2025, but if it’s gonna be with the Rams, they will have to figure out the contract. Stafford is still one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL and likely wants to be paid as so.
Additionally, it looks like Stafford’s best friend and former No. 1 target Cooper Kupp will no longer be with the Rams in 2025 as he announced the organization’s intention to trade him.
With all of this going on at once, Stafford’s wife Kelly spoke about it on her podcast, questioning the Rams organization’s decision to move on from Kupp and hinting that the quarterback could be on the move as well, via NFL insider Ari Meirov:
Kelly Stafford: “My husband wants to win. … Trading away a Cooper Kupp? I’m confused because we were one play away from going to the NFC Championship. I have to be the dog in this situation—I want the respect for him that he deserves. I love the city of L.A. With that being said… pic.twitter.com/SJzDB78ww2

The Rams can still compete with Stafford as their quarterback, so hopefully this all gets sorted out and he remains in L.A. The organization does not have a succession plan at quarterback and the draft options this year are not great.
If Stafford does want out though then the Rams will likely work with him to choose his next destination. Stafford has earned at least that for everything he has done for the organization since coming over in 2021.
Rams’ Sean McVay wants Matthew Stafford’s contract situation sorted out soon
With a lot of business to attend to this offseason, Rams head coach Sean McVay is hoping Matthew Stafford’s contract situation gets sorted out sooner rather than later.
“We don’t want to have that go on again,” McVay said. “I don’t think that’s good for anybody. I think sooner than later, being able to get that clarity, understanding, open and honest communication. I think there’s a lot of love coming from our part. I think there’s a lot of appreciation coming from his part as well, and I think a lot sooner than later is an ideal scenario.”
