NFL training camp has begun for all 32 teams, which means a strong majority of the player movement for the offseason is done. However, with training camp always comes holdouts from star players who do not yet have a new contract but feel they’ve earned one. While the Los Angeles Rams don’t have any as Kyren Williams reported to camp, there have been several notable cases this season so far. One of the biggest is Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin.

McLaurin is the No. 1 wideout for a Commanders team that vaulted themselves all the way to the NFC Championship Game last season with the addition of rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, who figures to be one of the next great signal-callers in this league. However, a blowout loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in that game showed they still have a ways to go to be legitimate Super Bowl contenders.

McLaurin is a big part of that equation, but after the team did not agree to terms on a new contract with him in the offseason, he has formally requested a trade away from Washington. That’s where his former Commanders teammate Kam Curl stepped in to throw out the Rams as a potential option:

McLaurin on the Rams would be a dangerous thought, even if it’s highly unlikely. L.A. swapped out Cooper Kupp in the offseason for Davante Adams, giving them one of the best 1-2 punches in the league with Adams and Puka Nacua. Adding McLaurin to that would certainly give the Rams the best receiving corps in the sport.

However, financially, they likely don’t have the money to pay what would effectively be their WR3 what McLaurin would demand. And rightfully so, McLaurin has been a key piece of several iterations of Washington football, and has produced on big stages regardless of who the quarterback is.

But the Rams certainly appreciate Curl making the attempt, because if Scary Terry wanted to join the Rams, it’s possible that Les Snead and company would figure out a way to make it happen.

Rams’ Sean McVay compares Davante Adams and Cooper Kupp

Davante Adams immediately became a target for the Rams and head coach Sean McVay once he was released by the New York Jets.

McVay recruited Adams heavily in free agency and it worked as the star receiver signed a two-year deal with the Rams.

While Adams has yet to officially step foot on the field for Los Angeles, he’s already been making an impact both on and off the field as a leader and mentor.

McVay has gotten a chance to get a better look at Adams the past couple of months and he compared him to Cooper Kupp and the way they understand the game of football.
