The Green Bay Packers have one of the most explosive offenses in all of football. Now QB Aaron Rodgers will have one of his top targets for the forseeable future.
According to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, the Packers and wide receiver Jordy Nelson have agreed on a four-year contract extension:
The Packers have announced that Nelson has signed a contract extension. Per multiple reports, it’s a four-year deal that will pay him $39 million. Coupled with his $3.50 million compensation for 2014, he’s now under contract for five years, $42.5 million.
This agreement is sure to relieve some stress from Nelson as he can now focus on football without worrying about his contract status.
The Packers’ offense has ranked in the top-5 in each of the last three seasons. During that time, Nelson has totaled 30 touchdowns and enjoyed two seasons of more than 1,200 yards.
For his part, Nelson seemed extremely excited and hopes to finish his career in Green Bay according to ESPN:
It’s exciting, obviously it’s something everyone wants to get done, especially like I said a while back about training camp. My wife and I are excited to be here, and hopefully I’ll be able to finish my career here, finish this out and be done.
Now armed with Nelson, Randall Cobb, and running back Eddie Lacy, QB Aaron Rodgers has all the weapons he needs to get the Packers back to the Super Bowl.
