The Los Angeles Rams announced the jersey numbers for their incoming 2024 NFL Draft class.
The jersey numbers are as follows: outside linebacker Jared Verse will wear No. 8, defensive tackle Braden Fiske will wear No. 55, running back Blake Corum will wear No. 22, defensive back Kamren Kinchens will wear No. 26, linebacker Brennan Jackson will wear No. 44, defensive lineman Tyler Davis will wear No. 90, kicker Joshua Karty will wear No. 43, wide receiver Jordan Whittington will wear No. 88, offensive lineman Beaux Limmer will wear No. 50 and offensive lineman KT Leveston will wear No. 66.
Verse is sticking with a single-digit number as he wore No. 5 with Florida State. No. 5 currently belongs to Tutu Atwell. Meanwhile, his Seminole teammate Fiske is sticking with the same No. 55 he wore in college.
Like Fiske, Karty is keeping the same number he wore at Stanford while Blake Corum’s number is largely the same after donning No. 2 for Michigan. The rest of the group stuck with numbers that typically belong to their respective position groups.
Assigning jersey numbers for the rookies signals that the 2024 season is coming up and the next phase of the offseason is set to begin as rookies will report for rookie minicamp from May 10-11. The two-day session will give the players and head coaches the chance to finally get some work in and help the rookies acclimate to life in the NFL.
Head coach Sean McVay has been eager to get his new players in the building so they can hit the ground running. Verse and Fiske are projected to get starter snaps right away given their talent and draft capital, while players like Blake Corum and Kamren Kinchens should see the field sooner rather than later.
Aside from Verse and Fiske, Jackson and Davis should also be able to crack the rotation and turn into situational players depending on the type of down the team has defensively. Meanwhile, Limmer, Leveston and Whittington will have the opportunity to work behind the scenes and hopefully develop into contributors down the line. Lastly, Karty seems like a shoo-in to win the kicking job though the Rams will likely bring in some competition during training camp.
Joshua Karty wanted to get selected by Rams in 2024 NFL Draft
Karty was considered one of the best kicking prospects in the 2024 NFL Draft and it was mildly surprising to see him fall to the sixth round. However, Karty was happy with how the draft shook out as he wanted the Rams to draft him all along.
