Following a historic night at the Los Angeles Coliseum, one of the most notable blemishes during the Los Angeles Rams 28-24 victory over the Dallas Cowboys was the underwhelming performance of quarterback Jared Goff.
After checking in with the second team in the second quarter, Goff was hit just as he threw the ball that led to an interception on just the second pass attempt in his preseason debut. Things would not get much better as the first overall pick would go on to finish 4-of-9 for 38 yards:

However, it seems head coach Jeff Fisher is looking to provide his young quarterback with a better supporting cast by getting him some snaps with the starters this week against the Kansas City Chiefs according to Rams:
“You can expect to see at this point Todd (Gurley) this week, and Rob (Havenstein) playing a little bit this week and we’ll continue to build reps with these guys,” Fisher said. “And I’ll keep you posted on what our plans are with Jared, I’d like to get him some snaps with the 1’s at some point and it quite likely would be this week versus Kansas City.”
Despite the shaky outing, Goff’s stat line might have looked much different had fellow rookie Pharoh Cooper not dropped a 40-yard pass that would have brought the Rams within the five-yard line. However, he was able to build quite a rapport with another rookie, Tyler Higbee, who caught three of his four completions.
While a starting nod in Week 1 is unlikely, perhaps some time with the starters could help with the young quarterback’s transition into the offense.
