The Los Angeles Rams had their three-game winning streak come to an end with a 23-15 loss to the Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football in Week 10.
The matchup was notable in that it marked the returns of Odell Beckham Jr. and Jalen Ramsey to SoFi Stadium for the first time since their respective departures from the Rams.
Ramsey had a longer career with the Rams as he spent parts of four seasons in L.A. The 30-year-old lived up to his reputation as a lockdown corner with the team as he earned three Pro Bowl selections and helped them win Super Bowl LVI.
The Rams traded Ramsey to the Dolphins prior to the 2023 season for salary cap reasons, marking the end of a successful relationship. Ramsey reflected on his time with the team and had nothing but good things to say, via Joe Schad of The Palm Beach Post:
“I never got an opportunity to give like a farewell gift to, you know, all the people out there,” Ramsey said. “It’s like a home to me. It’s like a family. I’ve got some family from out there. My daughter was born out there. Great memories out there. Everlasting memories of community, always treated me and my family right, nothing but loved and respected. So, still got a lot of ties out there. Still go out there often. A lot of positive energy out there. Nothing, like, negative that I could say about my time there.”
Ramsey highlighted Cooper Kupp and Matthew Stafford as two of his favorite teammates with the Rams:
“They were great,” Ramsey said. I’ve got a ton of respect for Coop. I easily think he’s a top five receiver. He and Matthew (Stafford) have a chemistry, great connection. And yeah, it was it was truly iron sharpening iron. We worked. We made each other better.”
Ramsey appeared in 57 games with the Rams, recording 10 interceptions, 47 passes defensed, four forced fumbles, two sacks and 242 tackles.
Ramsey has been just as effective with the Dolphins, but the team suffered a first-round exit in the playoffs last year and is currently just 3-6 this season.
If the Dolphins hope to go on a run and climb back into the playoff picture, they will need Ramsey to continue playing well in the secondary.
Sean McVay laments ‘inconsistent’ Rams offense in loss to Dolphins
The Rams struggled offensively against the Dolphins as they couldn’t find the end zone and had to settle for five field goals. “We didn’t do nearly good enough job offensively,” head coach Sean McVay said after the game.
“Defensively, I thought they did an amazing job being able to keep our football team in the game, but the turnovers gave us a chance and then we turned the ball right back over from an offensive perspective. And then there was really a lot of examples of the importance of continuity. I’ll have to go back and look at this tape but it’s got to be a lot better and we’ve got to evaluate everything and we’ve got to be a lot better.”
