Oakland Raiders running back Darren McFadden went down with a leg injury in the 2nd quarter of their contest with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and will not return.
McFadden’s has had injury issues his whole career as he has never played a full season. Last year, he only played seven games before being sidelined for the season with a foot sprain.
With the Raiders still competing for a playoff spot in the AFC, an injury to McFadden could prove to be devastating to the team’s chances. It should be noted that the Raiders running game hasn’t been as prolific this season as it had been in McFadden’s previous years with a new coaching staff and a zone run-blocking scheme.
McFadden being able to walk off the field under his own power the X-Rays coming back negative are positive signs that the injury isn’t serious, and holding him out of the game just might be precautionary to prevent a more serious injury.
McFadden had 17 yards on seven carries.
