The Los Angeles Rams were off in Week 8 for their bye week, but that set them up well as they played host to the New Orleans Saints in Week 9.

While the Rams remain in a heated competition to stay atop the NFC West, the Saints’ 2025 season is going nowhere as they entered the afternoon with just one win under their belt. New Orleans has been a team to look out for during the trade deadline, so they already have an eye toward the offseason and next year’s draft.

It didn’t take long for the Rams to assert their will on the game as the defense forced a three-and-out on the Saints’ first offensive possession. From there, Matthew Stafford and company went right to work moving the football efficiently through the air and ground. Stafford found Tyler Higbee all alone in the end zone, making it 7-0 for Los Angeles.

The defenses were able to trade stops before Stafford struck again in the second quarter, this time hitting Davante Adams in a one-on-one situation at the goal line to make it 13-0. While New Orleans responded with a field goal to make 13-3, Stafford threw another haymaker when he hit Puka Nacua downfield for a 39-yard touchdown to make it 20-3.

The Saints narrowed the gap at halftime after Joshua Karty missed a 39-yard field goal, using the field position to score their first touchdown. Los Angeles went into the locker room leading 20-10.

The second half belonged entirely to the Rams as they controlled the third quarter from the jump, chewing up clock behind several strong runs from Blake Corum. Stafford capped off the drive with a touchdown pass to Davante Adams, increasing the lead to 27-10.

The L.A. defense came up with their first turnover after Nate Landman punched the football out from Alvin Kamara and Kamren Kinchens recovered the fumble. The Rams offense took full advantage as they marched downfield and Kyren Williams got into the end zone to make it 34-10.

From that point forward, the Saints tried to climb back into it but the Rams defense stifled them at every turn. The game was essentially over after Emmanuel Forbes Jr. picked off Tyler Shough for his first interception of the season, allowing the Rams to take home an easy win.

Stafford was the star of the day, throwing for 281 yards and four passing touchdowns as he continued his stellar start to the season.

What’s next for the Rams

The Rams will head up north for Week 10 for another pivotal divisional matchup against the San Francisco 49ers, looking for some revenge after losing to them earlier in the season.
