Through two weeks of the 2025 season, the Los Angeles Rams looked the part of a Super Bowl contender but faced their toughest opponent so far in Week 3 as they went on the road for a NFC Divisional Round rematch against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Like the Rams, the Eagles came into the highly anticipated matchup 2-0, which set up the most intriguing game of the slate. Los Angeles spent most of the offseason upgrading its defense with an emphasis on stopping the run game after Saquon Barkley dominated them in their previous matchups.
The beginning of the game got off to an ominous start as Matthew Stafford threw a pick on the opening drive, directly leading to a Tush Push touchdown from Jalen Hurts that made it 7-0. The Rams responded by driving down field on their next possession and scored after a Joshua Karty field goal, making it a 7-3 game.
From that point forward, L.A.’s defense dominated the first half as they forced Philadelphia into a three-and-out on their next drive down the field. Stafford responded with his best play of the day, a 44-yard touchdown strike to Davante Adams that made it 10-7.
The Eagles offense sputtered as the Rams defense shut down any of Barkley’s running lanes and forced Hurts to throw under pressure. However, Los Angeles was unable to fully capitalize and were forced to settle for several field goals that allowed them to take a 19-7 lead at halftime.
The defense picked up where it left off to begin the third as Jared Verse sacked Hurts and forced a fumble that Nate Landman recovered. Stafford made Philadelphia pay as he immediately hit Kyren Williams for a 10-yard receiving touchdown that gave the Rams a 26-7 lead.
Unfortunately, that would be the final time L.A. would score and Philadelphia turned to Hurts and A.J. Brown to lead them back into the game. Hurts and Brown connected on several deep shots, though it was Dallas Goedert that would score a receiving touchdown to make it a 26-14 contest. The Rams punted on the next possession and Hurts hit Brown for his first touchdown of the season to make it 26-21.

The fourth quarter was a tightly contested match, though several questionable calls went against Los Angeles. The Eagles took the lead after Hurts found Devonta Smith in the end zone to make it 27-26, but the Rams marched down the field and set themselves to win with another field goal. However, Karty’s attempt was blocked and Jordan Davis ran it back for another Philadelphia touchdown.
It was the second blocked field goal in the final quarter by the Rams, which cost them a chance to remain undefeated as Los Angeles lost 33-26 in heartbreaking fashion, dropping to 2-1 in the regular season.
What’s next for the Rams
The Rams finally return home in Week 4, but draw a surging Indianapolis Colts team that shouldn’t be taken lightly. The Colts will come into SoFi Stadium with a perfect 3-0 record next Sunday at 1:05 p.m. PT.
