Coming off a successful home opener win against the Houston Texans in Week 1, the Los Angeles Rams traveled east for their first road game of the 2025 season against the Tennessee Titans.
The matchup featured a battle of two former first overall picks in Matthew Stafford and Cam Ward, with the latter debuting for Tennessee just last week. While Ward’s numbers in his first NFL game weren’t impressive on paper, the rookie had several throws on tape that fit the bill of a former No. 1 overall selection.
Meanwhile, the Titans defense is stout and filled with playmakers up front and in their secondary. Jeffrey Simmons is one of the best interior defensive linemen in the league while L’Jarius Sneed is a tough and physical corner who can shadow most wideouts.
Byron Young was excited for his return to Tennessee and he made his presence felt early after sacking Ward on his first drive, forcing a three-and-out. Unlike the game against Houston, Los Angeles’ offense got off of to a faster start thanks to Puka Nacua who took a jetsweep for 45 yards and a rushing touchdown, his first score of the season. Nacua’s touchdown gave the Rams an early 7-0 lead in the first quarter.
After a couple of punts from both teams, Tennessee got on the board with a field goal before Joshua Karty responded with a 21-yard chip shot to make it 10-3. However, the Rams got sloppy in the second quarter as their offense stalled out and the Titans responded with 10 unanswered points to take a 13-10 lead into halftime.

The second half was much more representative of what the Rams can look like when they’re firing on all cylinders. L.A. started the third with another short field goal to tie the game up at 13-13. Tennessee answered with their own field goal to retake a 16-13 lead, but that would be the last time they would be up on the scoreboard.
Stafford hit Nacua for two chunk gains and later found Davis Allen streaking near the end zone to make it to 20-16. Young then got home on Ward again at the top of the fourth quarter, sacking him and forcing a fumble that Nate Landman recovered. Stafford was able to take advantage of the turnover by finding Davante Adams for his first touchdown with the Rams, making it 27-16.
Blake Corum eventually sealed the game with his first career touchdown late in the period, making it 33-16 and enough for Los Angeles to take home its second win.
As usual, Nacua led the way with 136 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown while Adams had a big day of his own with 106 receiving yards.
What’s next for the Rams
The Rams will remain on the road for Week 3 when they take on the Philadelphia Eagles in a rematch of the NFC Divisional Game. After losing to the Eagles twice last year, L.A. will definitely be looking for some revenge.
