The Los Angeles Rams entered Week 15 with a huge opportunity in front of them as a win over the Detroit Lions would punch their ticket to the 2026 NFL Playoffs.
The Rams and Lions are considered two of the best teams in the NFC and each had a lot riding on the outcome of their primetime matchup. For Detroit, a victory would allow them to stay in the hunt for the NFC North division title as well as improve their odds of securing their own postseason spot.
The Lions have historically played the Rams tough, often times through explosive plays and a physical defense that can wear on teams. However, Los Angeles was able to get the better of them this time around as they beat Detroit 41-34 and clinched a postseason berth.
In what many considered to be the game of the week, the two teams didn’t disappoint as they spent the first half trading scores. Los Angeles and Detroit didn’t have the sharpest of starts as Matthew Stafford threw a pick while the latter missed a field goal, but from that point forward points were had in abundance.
L.A’s first touchdown of the day came courtesy of Kyren Williams, who ran in a 4-yard score to make it a 7-7 game. Williams followed it up with his second score of the day on the Rams’ ensuing possession, converting on a 1-yard scamper to tie it at 14.
Los Angeles went into halftime trailing 24-17, though they were able to quickly cut into the deficit after a field goal at the start of the third quarter. After forcing a Detroit punt, Stafford reclaimed the lead after hitting Colby Parkinson for a 26-yard touchdown to make it 27-24.

The defense played inspired football, with Kobie Turner sacking Jared Goff to continue the momentum for the Rams. Stafford delivered on the next possession, hitting Puka Nacua for a huge 39-yard gain before Blake Corum finished the drive with an 11-yard touchdown run to make it a 34-24 game.
The fourth quarter was a tense affair as the Lions stayed within striking distance, but another Stafford touchdown pass to Parkinson gave them a 41-27 cushion. While Detroit was able to score and make it 41-34, L.A. was able to hold them off to take the impressive victory.
What’s next for the Rams
The Rams don’t have much time to rest as they’ll take on the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday Night Football in Week 16. This will be the most important matchup of the season as the winner likely takes the NFC West crown and No. 1 seed in the conference.
