The Los Angeles Rams had a successful 2020 season, although it did not end how they wanted it to after falling to the Green Bay Packers in the NFC divisional round.
The organization now has a number of question marks going into the offseason, none more important than the quarterback position.
It was clear that Sean McVay lost confidence in Jared Goff late in the year after a number of high-turnover games. Goff also dealt with a thumb injury that limited him, although the Rams opted to go with backup John Wolford as their starter in the Wild Card round against the Seattle Seahawks despite both quarterbacks being active.
Goff’s big extension that he signed with the Rams a couple of years ago kicks in this upcoming season, so it is unlikely that the team would be able to trade him, meaning he will likely go into 2021 as the starter.
That doesn’t mean that other quarterbacks won’t be brought in to compete with him though, and that has already begun with former Pittsburgh Steelers signal-caller Devlin Hodges announcing that he has signed with the Rams:

The team later announced it is a reserve/futures contract so the Rams can get a look at him this offseason.
Hodges joined the Steelers in 2019 after going undrafted out of Samford. He appeared in eight games (six starts) his rookie season while Ben Roethlisberger was injured and completed 62.5% of his passes for 1,063 yards with five touchdowns and eight interceptions.
He did not appear in a game in 2020, and likely doesn’t figure as a starter going into the future. McVay has proven to be a quarterback guru though, so if he sees something in Hodges, then it is possible he competes for the backup job next year.
