The Los Angeles Rams have made significant changes to their wide receiving corps this offseason, notably choosing to release Cooper Kupp and replacing him to Davante Adams.

The Rams attempted to trade Kupp but were unable to do so considering he had two years left and a sizable contract. He had a roster bonus due to at the start of the league year, so the Rams released him to avoid paying it.

That allowed Kupp to be a free agent, picking a destination of his choosing. The 31-year-old unsurprisingly had significant interest after hitting the open market for the first time in his career.

After taking time to figure out which situation was best for him and his family, the Yakima native will be heading home and signing with the Seattle Seahawks, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network:

This is a nice deal for Kupp, who still has something left in the tank after playing in 12 games and hauling in 67 receptions for 710 yards and six touchdowns with the Rams last season.

Even if he isn’t the triple crown receiver he once was, Kupp can still be productive while also serving as a leader in the locker room and a valuable mentor to young players.

Unfortunately for the Rams, they will now have to face him twice a season with him staying in the NFC West and joining his hometown Seahawks. Kupp will surely be looking for revenge in a new-look Seahawks offense that also includes Sam Darnold at quarterback.

Rams pay tribute to Cooper Kupp

After announcing they would be releasing him, the Rams posted a lengthy video paying tribute to Cooper Kupp for everything he did for the organization. Kupp also posted his own video celebrating his time in Los Angeles.

When the Seahawks come to SoFi Stadium next year, Kupp will likely receive another tribute video and warm reception from Rams fans before becoming the enemy.
