Before quarterback Terrelle Pryor committed to Ohio State, head coach Chip Kelly tried to recruit Pryor to Oregon according to Scott Bair of CSNBayArea.com via Twitter:
Ironically enough, Pryor led the Buckeyes to victory over the Kelly’s Ducks in the Rose Bowl back in 2010. Pryor came away with MVP honors and caught the eye of late Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis.
Ultimately, Pryor was caught up in a scandal at Ohio State and jeopardized his future as a quarterback in the NFL. Despite all the doubters and all the teams that stayed away from Pryor, Davis took a chance on the promising young quarterback in the NFL’s supplemental draft.
As a result of Davis’ gamble, Pryor is now the starting quarterback of the Raiders and has seemingly help turn things around in Oakland. Kelly on the other hand is struggling to adjust to the NFL level after leaving Oregon in favor of the Philadelphia Eagles. The head coach has led the Eagles to a 3-5 record heading into a rematch with Pryor in Week 9 in Oakland.
Although the stakes have changed and both men are different situations in the NFL, Kelly hasn’t forgotten about being unable to bring Pryor to Oregon or contain him when the Ducks fell to the Buckeyes back in 2010 at the Rose Bowl.
