Before the Los Angeles Rams took the field for their Week 1 game against the Dallas Cowboys, they locked up a pair of their star players by signing both Jalen Ramsey and Cooper Kupp to long-term extensions.

The Ramsey extension came as no surprise considering the Rams gave up two first-round picks to acquire him in a blockbuster trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars in the middle of last season.

Kupp has been great in his time with the Rams, but he also has dealt with some injuries so wasn’t exactly a shoo-in to ink a long-term extension a year before his rookie contract comes to an end.

It’s no secret the Rams love him though, so they made it a priority to keep him around for three more seasons after this one at a reasonable $48 million.

After the Rams’ Week 1 win over the Dallas Cowboys, Kupp finally got the chance to talk about his extension and express his excitement to remain with the organization long-term, via Stu Jackson of TheRams.com:

Kupp is coming off a career season in which he hauled in 94 receptions for 1,161 yards and 10 touchdowns, becoming a favorite target of Jared Goff.

He had a quiet night in the Rams’ Week 1 win over the Cowboys as he only had four receptions for 40 yards, although L.A. did most of its work on the ground so there should be better days ahead.

With Ramsey, Kupp, Goff and Aaron Donald now locked up long-term, the Rams now have their core of players to build around into the future.
