The Los Angeles Rams rediscovered themselves during the 2023 season as head coach Sean McVay and the coaching staff were able to win games with a mix of veterans and young players.

McVay is widely regarded as one of the brightest offensive minds in the NFL and he reinvented his offensive scheme to revolve around a more physical running game.

Kyren Williams broke out as the team’s lead back, but it was the offensive line’s improved play that contributed most to the ground game’s resurgence. This offseason, Los Angeles proved they are committed to their new identity after signing Jonah Jackson and re-signing Kevin Dotson.

The Rams also signed tight end Colby Parkinson, who expressed how happy he is to be back home in Southern California. “Yeah, just pure excitement. Obviously, like you said, I grew up around here and love the area, went to Oaks Christian,” Parkinson said. “So the opportunity to come back here and have a role in the community is going to be huge for me and to back in the sunshine and around so many friends and family is going to be a blessing.”

Parkinson wasn’t the only one excited about his decision as his family also rejoiced when they heard he was heading to Los Angeles. “My dad’s in the background throwing his hands up right now (laughs).

“Just so excited and so thankful to come back home and be able to play in front of so many important people in my life, so many role models and like I said earlier, also to have an influence in the community and do a lot of workaround here is going to be just a huge blessing.”

Lastly, Parkinson said he’s looking forward to playing his former team the Seattle Seahawks. “Yeah, it’s going to be a lot of fun playing the Seahawks twice a year. There’s a lot of familiarity also with (Seahawks Offensive Coordinator) Shane (Waldron) coming from here a couple years ago, so I think it’ll be a very natural transition for me.”

Parkinson is known for his block capabilities and he should see the field a ton, especially with Tyler Higbee still on the mend.

Colby Parkinson excited to be part of Rams offense

McVay has fans across the league for how he utilizes his players offensively, and Parkinson acknowledged he’s been a fan.

“Yeah, absolutely. I’ve been a fan from afar of their offense so I’m excited to be on the other side of it and be able to help out and help this team win some games.”

Parkinson is in line for plenty of snaps, especially he can continue to block well for the Rams.
