Rams News: Case Keenum ‘Taking It A Week At A Time’ Regarding To Starting

A lot has been talked about the Los Angeles Rams current quarterback situation as Case Keenum threw four interceptions in their Week 7 loss to the New York Giants.

They then had a bye in Week 8, so it seemed like a good time to get rookie quarterback Jared Goff ready to start Week 9’s home game against the Carolina Panthers.

Goff got reps with the first team offense in practice last week, but head coach Jeff Fisher said Goff is still not ready though so Keenum will remain the team’s starter for the time being.

According to Myles Simmons of therams.com, Keenum is taking his starting role a week at a time:

“It hasn’t changed — nothing’s changed. I’m playing,” Keenum said. “I’m playing this week, taking it a week at a time and that’s what I’ve been doing. For me, I don’t pay attention to anything outside this building. No offense to you guys and what you guys do, but I don’t pay attention to a lot of that.

“What matters to me is the opinions to the 53 guys in that locker room and the coaches in their rooms,” Keenum continued. “I’m going to go out and try to do the best I can – prepare to put this team in the best situation to win ball games. That’s what my goal is this week. I’m not worried about anything else — forward or backwards.”

Keenum ranks 27th out of 32 qualified quarterbacks with a 77.5 passer rating. He has completed 62.5 percent of his passes for 1,708 yards, eight touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

Keenum knows that the future of the Rams franchise is in Goff’s hands, as they traded up to take him with the top overall pick, but until Goff is ready it is still Keenum’s team and the Rams are just one game out of a playoff spot.
