Cardinals RB Jonathan Dwyer Arrested For Domestic Violence

Now that all of the conversation in the NFL is focused on domestic violence, now would probably be the worst possible time to get into any domestic disputes. The entire public has its eyes on the NFL, and with the amount of criticism they have received lately, the NFL will be sure to punish swiftly on any infraction.

Despite all of that, Arizona Cardinals running back Jonathan Dwyer was arrested Wednesday at the team’s training facility for a July domestic case involving his wife according to the Arizona Republic:

Police records indicate the incident began at about 8 a.m. on July 21 when Dwyer and his wife got into an argument. Police say Dwyer tried to kiss his wife and remove her clothing. The woman told Dwyer to stop several times, police say, and bit his lip when he wouldn’t. Investigators say Dwyer then head-butted his wife, fracturing her nose.

The incident apparently didn’t end there as the next day things got worse:

Authorities say Dwyer punched his wife in the face the next day when another argument ensued, records show. Dwyer also punched walls before picking up a shoe and throwing it at their son. The shoe hit the boy in the stomach.

This is an extremely disturbing case as Dwyer has supposedly hit his wife on two separate occasions, as well as harming his 18-month old child. It is basically a combination of the Ray Rice and Adrian Peterson situations.

The Cardinals have already deactivated Dwyer and placed him on the Non-Football Illness list. It seems likely that he won’t be playing anytime soon.
