The Seattle Seahawks are the defending Super Bowl Champions, but they are aware that their bread and butter is the defense and the running game. Even still, the presence of wide receiver Percy Harvin gave the team an explosive offensive weapon capable of turning any short pass into a huge game breaking play. Though he only had 22 receptions in the first five games of the season, Harvin also had a number of carries, and the Seahawks were clearly trying to get him the ball in different ways.
After the team’s recent loss to the Dallas Cowboys, they even went as far as to say they are looking to expand Harvin’s role and use him more as a deep threat instead of just quick passes and screens. Now, however, he is someone else’s weapon as FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer reports on October 17 that the Seahawks have agreed to trade Harvin to the New York Jets:

FOX Sports’ Mike Garafalo noted that the Seahawks had actually been quietly checking out the trade market for Harvin for a little while:

This was a completely unexpected move, especially considering that the Seahawks were talking like they were ready to give Harvin a much bigger role in the offense, but if they felt he just wasn’t a good fit, it was better to cut ties with him.
For the Jets, this gives Geno Smith his best offensive weapon by far. Harvin is a big play machine who will severely help the Jets’ dismal offense and becomes the team’s biggest playmaker.
