Bobby Wagner On Reports Of Visiting Rams: ‘I Just Want To Win’

The Los Angeles Rams have transformed their offense in the past week by signing Pro Bowl wide receiver Allen Robinson to a three-year contract and trading Robert Woods to the Tennessee Titans for a 2023 sixth-round draft pick.

The Rams now figure to turn their attention to upgrading their defensive unit. On Wednesday, multiple reports indicated free-agent inside linebacker Bobby Wagner was visiting the team and that there is mutual interest in getting a deal done.

Wagner is one of the biggest names left on the market after being suddenly released by the Seattle Seahawks earlier this month. Along with the Rams, the San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals are believed to have expressed interest in signing the six-time First-team All-Pro selection.

As he weighs his options in free agency, Wagner made it clear that winning is his top priority, via TMZ Sports:

“I just want to win,” Wagner said.

Of course, nobody’s done more winning than the Rams in the last few months — they earned a Super Bowl title and have crushed it in free agency.

When we asked Wagner about all of that — the former Seahawk nodded his head and said, “Sounds good!”

With Ernest Jones’ emergence and Travin Howard returning in 2022, the Rams don’t exactly have a need at inside linebacker. However, it’s not every day a player of Wagner’s caliber becomes available to sign, so it makes sense they would do their due diligence on the future Hall of Famer.

From Wagner’s perspective, the Rams appear to be the perfect landing spot as he transitions to the next chapter in his career. The 31-year-old was born in L.A. and would have an opportunity to play his former Seahawks team twice a year.

But perhaps most importantly, the Rams would give Wagner a chance to add a second Super Bowl championship to his resume, which is what he appears most focused on.
