Following the Los Angeles Rams debacle against the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football, many are wondering whether or not head coach Jeff Fisher is making the right choice in leaving quarterback Case Keenum as the starter.
Although Fisher has maintained Keenum will get the nod this coming Sunday versus the Seattle Seahawks, there are some on the coaching staff who reportedly feel the Rams are better off with Jared Goff as the starting quarterback according to Jason Cole of Bleacher Report:
Despite being relied on as the surefire starting quarterback, Keenum finished the game just 17-of-35 for 130 yards and two interceptions. As expected, the backlash has called for a change of signal caller just one game into the 2016 season. Although Keenum is not at fault for the many issues that plagued the offense, his inability to get Los Angeles in scoring position not even once against a suspect defense like the 49ers is certainly a cause for concern.
After a mediocre preseason performance, the Rams decided to list Goff as inactive for their embarrassing 28-0 shutout loss. The only other option was second-year quarterback Sean Mannion, who at one point during the game was warming up on the sidelines. Mannion is reportedly much further along in his development than Goff thus far.
However, if the offense continues to struggle like it did in the season opener, Los Angeles will have seemingly ran out of excuses for their prized draft pick to stay on the sidelines.
