The Los Angeles Rams looked strong in their preseason opener, picking up a 20-12 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs with rookie quarterback Ty Simpson having an impressive performance. However, they didn’t escape that game unscathed as a couple players picked up some injuries and will be out for some time.

Head coach Sean McVay announced that reserve offensive lineman Keagan Trost and wide receiver Mario Williams each suffered hamstring injuries and will be out for multiple weeks, via Zach Edwards of theRams.com:

Rams head coach Sean McVay on Monday said offensive lineman Keagen Trost and wide receiver Mario Williams will both likely miss a few weeks due to a hamstring injury each sustained in last Saturday’s preseason opener against the Chiefs in Kansas City.

Trost injured his hamstring on the first field goal protection while Williams injured his hamstring on his kick return.

“Keegan got his hamstring, probably be a few weeks with him, and the same thing for Mario,” McVay said after Monday’s practice.

McVay also gave updates on star defensive end Myles Garrett and wide receiver Puka Nacua, each of whom remains out of practice for the time being, but should be back on the field within the next week or so:

Both defensive end Myles Garrett and wide receiver Puka Nacua missed another day of practice on Monday. McVay last week said Garrett has been dealing with a little swelling in his knee, while Nacua has been dealing with soreness in his psoas since leaving last Tuesday’s joint practice with the Cowboys early.

Both are expected to return to practice next week as both are “taking it a day at a time.”

“Puka is doing good, whether or not we wait for next week or not, we’re just kind of taking it a day at a time,” McVay said. “Then Myles, we’ll see, probably next week as to when we think we’ll get those guys back.”

McVay added that the team will remain cautious with the two stars in navigating their returns:

“Myles is doing a good job. He was out here moving around before. Puka still has some soreness there,” McVay said. “We’re going to err on the side of caution while not minimizing how important it is to get those guys out here.”

This early into the preseason it is definitely the wise thing to do to be careful and not rush things with players as important to the Rams’ success as Nacua and Garrett. The goal of this team is to win another Super Bowl and every decision made has that in mind.

Aaron Donald has second workout with Rams

Something else that could play a huge factor in the Rams making a Super Bowl run is whether superstar defensive lineman Aaron Donald will make his return as he recently completed a second official workout with the team.
