The Los Angeles Rams announced the re-signing of defensive end Larrell Murchison to a one-year deal.

The 28-year-old recorded eight total tackles, three quarterback hits and tied a career-high two sacks in 16 games last season. He played 126 snaps on defense and another 44 on special teams.

It was Murchison’s first NFL action in two years as he missed the entire 2024 season due to separate arm and foot injuries.

Murchison was originally selected by the Tennessee Titans in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft out of North Carolina State. The Rams claimed him off waivers in 2022 and he has been part of the organization ever since.

In parts of five NFL seasons, Murchison has totaled 45 tackles, five quarterback hits and four sacks through 60 career games (eight starts). He will continue to provide key depth behind Kobie Turner and Braden Fiske as part of the Rams’ defensive line rotation.

Murchison joins Kam Curl, Tyler Higbee and Keir Thomas as players who have re-signed with L.A. this offseason.

Rams likely won’t sign Puka Nacua to contract extension until later this summer

The NFL offseason has slowed down a bit since the start of the free agency period earlier this month, but major news came out on Monday morning with the Seattle Seahawks reportedly signing star wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba to a four-year, $168.6 million contract extension.

The deal makes the two-time Pro Bowler the highest-paid wide receiver in NFL history with an average salary of $42.15 million per season.

That is notable for Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua, who is also in line to sign a lucrative contract extension this offseason.

While one should eventually come to fruition, L.A. is not expected to get a deal done with Nacua until later this summer.

Rams general manager Les Snead previously indicated that the Rams would focus on free agency and the 2026 NFL Draft before turning their focus to contract extensions for eligible players.

When the dust settles after that, the Rams will likely make Nacua the new highest-paid wide receiver in NFL history as he has statistically outperformed Smith-Njigba in several categories since entering the league in 2023. L.A. could also look to sign a couple of key defensive players in Kobie Turner and Byron Young to contract extensions.
