When the Los Angeles Rams completed a blockbuster trade to acquire cornerback Trent McDuffie from the Kansas City Chiefs, perhaps no one was more excited than Puka Nacua.

The Rams star played with McDuffie in college at the University of Washington, and immediately took to social media to celebrate the reunion between the two.

In fact, McDuffie revealed during his Rams introductory press conference that Nacua was the first one to call him and was screaming on the phone after the trade went down, via Adam Grosbard of the Southern California News Group:

When news first leaked that Rams had traded four draft picks for cornerback Trent McDuffie, the first person to call McDuffie’s phone was Rams receiver and former University of Washington teammate Puka Nacua.

“He was just screaming at the top of his lungs,” McDuffie said Thursday as he addressed reporters at the Rams’ practice facility in Woodland Hills.

Similar to McDuffie, Nacua is in line for a massive extension with the Rams that could be signed as soon as this offseason. With that being the case, they will be the two pillars on each side of the ball that L.A. builds around for years to come.

Both players are used to winning a lot and are known to be super competitive, which are traits the Rams love in their cornerstone players.

Kam Curl excited about Rams’ secondary additions

Joining Trent McDuffie in the Rams secondary is safety Kam Curl, who signed a new three-year contract to stay with the Rams. And he can also be considered among those excited about the team’s new addition.

“I’ll see them in the building real soon, but just seeing those moves that the Rams made, it just got me excited to go play with those guys, those big playmakers. And we’re just trying to have the No. 1 defense this season and I feel like with the guys we’ve got in the room now and on the defensive side of the ball, we’ve got a good chance to do that.”
