One of the Los Angeles Rams’ biggest priorities this offseason will be addressing the cornerback position, which was a weak point at times in 2025.
The Rams’ cornerback play let them down on several occasions this past season, including in their NFC Championship Game loss to the Seattle Seahawks when Sam Darnold threw for a season-high 346 yards and three touchdowns.
The Rams’ secondary especially struggled when the pass rush couldn’t generate much pressure on the quarterback so improving the group figures to be a major focus for general manager Les Snead and head coach Sean McVay.
Snead recently confirmed that the Rams will look to add to the cornerback position in the coming months, via Stu Jackson of TheRams.com:
“I think that’s a group because of the contracts expiring even…again, how many years they’ve been in the league is definitely something we have to sit down and maybe stabilize it more from a standpoint of getting the right people in under the right contracts and things like that based on how many guys are up or voiding and things like that,” Snead said. “It’ll be a position group that we’ll attack over the next few weeks and few months.”
The Rams not only want to get better at the cornerback position, but they also will have some decisions to make on key players who are set to become free agents. Kam Curl, Cobie Durant, Ahkello Witherspoon and Roger McCreary are on track to reach the open market while Darious Williams could be released for salary cap reasons.
It’s reasonable to think the Rams will explore all avenues for secondary help, including the 2026 NFL Draft, free agency and trades.
L.A. has two first-round picks, which they could use to select a top cornerback prospect such as Jermod McCoy, Avieon Terrell or Mansoor Delane. They could also look to part with one of those picks in a trade for a more established veteran.
The Rams also have around $45 million in salary cap space and could use some of that on a top free agent such as Alontae Taylor, Riq Woolen or Jaylen Watson.
Rams head coach Sean McVay not sure if he will watch Super Bowl LX
The Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots will meet in Super Bowl LX on Sunday night at Levi’s Stadium, which is always one of the most anticipated sporting events of the year.
The Los Angeles Rams unfortunately will be watching from home after they suffered another heartbreaking defeat to the Seahawks in the NFC Championship Game.
Rams head coach Sean McVay is still hurt over the loss and doesn’t know if he will be able to watch Super Bowl LX.
