The Los Angeles Rams’ season came to an unfortunate end when they lost to the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Championship Game.

This team had all of the makings of a Super Bowl roster, but ultimately their weaknesses on the defensive side of the ball and special teams did them in.

One person who could have helped with that is Aaron Donald, who was in attendance in Seattle cheering on his former team. And that is actually a thought that crossed Donald’s mind. On the latest episode of The Inner Circle Podcast, he revealed that being at the game made him want to suit up with his old teammates:

“With the anthem, I started to get them emotions again. I felt immortal again, like I was playing. I couldn’t stop moving. Start getting them jitters, jumping around. If they would’ve said, ‘Aaron, you can play in this fourth quarter to help close this game out – you’re allowed to dress and play,’ I probably would’ve went out there and played a little bit, I ain’t going to lie. I was juiced up… I wanted to go out there and hit somebody. I started about to drool, man. Palms are sweaty, I had the butterflies in my stomach, man. It felt good, though. It was a good experience for me to have the opportunity to do that, to relive that a little bit.”

Donald is happily retired for two years now and will likely never suit up again, but it is nice to see that he still gets that itch from time to time. He was one of the fiercest competitors the NFL has ever seen, and that isn’t something that just goes away when he’s done playing.

To his credit, it is nice to see Donald remain involved in the Rams organization and often attending games cheering on his former team. They came up short this year, but there’s no doubt that will give them extra motivation going into the offseason.

Rams tackle Rob Havenstein contemplating retirement

One of Donald’s old Rams teammates may be joining him in retirement as right tackle Rob Havenstein revealed that is a possibility after 11 seasons.

“I’d be lying to you if I said I haven’t,” Havenstein said Monday morning. “It’s something I’ve got to continue to think about, and we’ll go from there.”

Donald and Havenstein were drafted by the Rams in back-to-back years in 2014 and 2015 and went on to have extraordinary careers, all with the same franchise.
