For as great as Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford has been throughout his career, he actually doesn’t have as many individual accolades as one might expect from a potential Hall of Famer. Prior to this season, Stafford has only been named to the Pro Bowl twice and has been in the top-10 in MVP voting just once.
Now enjoying one of the best years of his career in 2025, Stafford has officially been named to the 2025 Pro Bowl, a well-deserved honor. The quarterback is one of four Rams to be named, alongside wide receiver Puka Nacua, defensive end Jared Verse, and outside linebacker Byron Young.
The star quarterback spoke on being named to the Pro Bowl, calling it an honor while admitting he has felt overlooked at times, via Wyatt Miller of TheRams.com:
“It’s a great honor to get (voted into the Pro Bowl)… I appreciate it. Obviously, (I) play this game to try to play at a high level and get respect from the people that you do it with and play against. So that part of it is really cool. Are there instances (of being overlooked)? I mean, 2011 I thought I had a chance. Wasn’t even close. So at that point, I kind of reserved myself to just go play, have fun, whatever happens, happens. But it is cool to be a part of it.”
That is an ideal mindset for Stafford to have. Awards and accolades are things that are out of his control as they are voted on so the best thing for Stafford to do is just to go out on the field, play and have fun which is exactly what he has been doing this season.
Stafford is the favorite in the eyes of many to win the NFL MVP award this season as he has thrown for 4,179 yards and 40 touchdowns with just five interceptions so far this year. He has led the Rams to an 11-4 record and are in a battle for the best record in the NFC.
It may have taken 17 years, but Stafford’s talent is finally being properly recognized and this Pro Bowl nod will hopefully be just the first of his acknowledgements this season.
How Rams can win the NFC West
The Rams’ crazy loss to the Seattle Seahawks took them out of pole position to win the NFC West, but the race is far from over between those two teams as well as the San Francisco 49ers with two games to go.
The Rams can still win the division with victories in their final two games along with one loss from both the Seahawks and 49ers. With the Rams facing the Atlanta Falcons and Arizona Cardinals, they should be able to handle their business. Additionally, the Seahawks and 49ers face each other in Week 18 so there remains a good chance the Rams can get what they need to take the division.
