The Los Angeles Rams bounced back from their loss to the Carolina Panthers with a dominant performance against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 14.
The Rams looked the part of a Super Bowl contender against the Cardinals, scoring at will while getting stops on the other side of the field. Los Angeles got several strong performances against Arizona, with Matthew Stafford adding three more touchdowns to his season total and Kyren Williams and Blake Corum running rampant in the ground game.
With head coach Sean McVay’s shift to more 13 personnel, other players like Colby Parkinson have also gotten their chance to sign. Parkinson has been a frequent end zone visitor the past few weeks, scoring his fourth touchdown of the season against the Cardinals.
Parkinson expressed how much fun he’s having this season and how he wants to help the Rams continue winning, via Stu Jackson of TheRams.com:
“I think you hit the nail on the head there,” Parkinson said, when asked about the enjoyment he’s been playing with this year. “It’s just been an enjoyable year. I’m not out there trying to score touchdowns for myself or do this or that selfishly. I really just want the team to do well and to play to the best of my abilities for the team, whatever that looks like. Early on wasn’t getting the ball as much in the red zone and I was totally fine with it, as long as I was helping the team win.”
Parkinson was one of the free agent signings Los Angeles made last year, but his first year back in Southern California was mostly underwhelming. Relegated to blocking most of the time last year, Parkinson is getting opportunities in the passing game and is rewarding the coaching staff’s trust in him.
Davante Adams remains Stafford’s No. 1 read in the red zone, but Parkinson has turned into another reliable option because of his size and good hands. With Tyler Higbee on injured reserve, Parkinson should continue to operate as the team’s primary tight end but there will be opportunities for the rest of the room to get theirs as well.
Sean McVay not concerned with Rams getting No. 1 seed
Sean McVay has the Rams playing some of the best football around the league which has them in pole position to claim the No. 1 seed in the NFC. While securing home-field advantage in the playoffs would be a massive boost, McVay claims he isn’t concerned about the Rams getting the No. 1 seed.
