The Los Angeles Rams have managed to compile a 6-2 record through the first half of the 2025 season, setting themselves up to compete for a Super Bowl championship.
Head coach Sean McVay has the Rams offense firing on all cylinders as Matthew Stafford looks like a legitimate MVP candidate while Davante Adams is finally settling in to his new home. Meanwhile, defensive coordinator Chris Shula has Los Angeles’ defense performing as one of the best outfits across the NFL despite the team’s minimal payroll on that side of the football.
Perhaps what makes the Rams’ record even more impressive is they haven’t been completely healthy throughout the regular season. Star receiver Puka Nacua has missed time due to various injuries while Darious Williams was forced to miss last week’s game with a shoulder ailment.
Fortunately, head coach Sean McVay was optimistic about both Nacua and Williams’ availability for their pivotal Week 10 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers, via Wyatt Miller of TheRams.com:
Rams head coach Sean McVay said that wide receiver Puka Nacua (ribs) and cornerback Darious Williams (shoulder) will practice in a limited capacity on Wednesday, but “They are looking good for the game.”
Nacua hurt himself in the third quarter against the New Orleans Saints and McVay noted shortly after that he was available to return but L.A. decided to hold him out due to the score. Williams, meanwhile, hurt his shoulder back in Week 7 against the Jacksonville Jaguars but the extra time off as him in line to start.
Injuries have derailed several promising Rams’ seasons in the past, but this year it seems they are finally catching a break on the health front. McVay has done well adjusting on the fly with the personnel available week to week, but getting Nacua and Williams back ensures he and Shula can do what they want on their respective sides of the field.
The last time Los Angeles saw San Francisco they lost in heartbreaking fashion, so it will be interesting to see if there’s extra motivation to pull off a win. With how tight the NFC West race is, the Rams can ill afford to lose another divisional matchup.
Rams sign Harrison Mevis to practice squad
One of the reasons why the Rams aren’t undefeated is due to their kicking operation. Joshua Karty has struggled making field goals and extra points, so the team signed Harrison Mevis to the practice squad to create competition for the starting kicker job.
