The Los Angeles Rams have a need at the cornerback position after Ahkello Witherspoon went down with a broken clavicle in Week 2.

The Rams have done their best to manage in his absence with Darious Williams, Emmanuel Forbes and Cobie Durant getting snaps on the outside and Quentin Lake manning the slot, but it’s clear they can still use some more depth at the position. Recent reeports even indicate the Rams were in search of a corner before the trade deadline on Nov. 4.

It appears they are addressing that as according to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Rams are acquiring cornerback Roger McCreary from the Tennessee Titans in a trade that involves the swap of a fifth and sixth round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft:

Trade: Titans are sending CB Roger McCreary to the Rams for a conditional 5th/6th round pick swap, per sources.

Conditions: Titans get 5th-round pick closer to the beginning of the round, which most likely be Titans original 5th round pick. Rams receive the 6th-round pick that… pic.twitter.com/uvdyCYTn7d

McCreary is a former second-round pick of the Titans in 2022 out of Auburn. He has appeared in 55 games (38 starts) with them over the last four seasons and has recorded 253 total tackles, three interceptions and 17 passes defensed. In eight games (three starts) this season, the 25-year-old has 33 tackles, one interceptions and three passes defensed.

In recent years the Titans had moved McCreary from the outside to the slot, so it will be interesting to see how the Rams use him given they need help on the outside with Lake thriving in the slot.

Either way, the Rams needed some depth at the cornerback position badly and they addressed that by bringing in McCreary for a relatively cheap price considering he is in the final year of his contract and will be a free agent this offseason.

Matthew Stafford explains how Rams beat Jaguars blitz

The Jaguars blitzed the Rams a lot in Week 7, but that didn’t seem to affect Matthew Stafford at all as he explained how they were able to beat it.

“They’re an aggressive team,” Stafford said. “I think their defensive coordinator does a nice job bringing different blitz packages. It was kind of one of those games, like a little bit of tough, tough game to kind of throw and catch with the ball and just the way the field was going. So they were playing sticky coverage a lot and and bringing some pressure. So hats off to them. They’re an aggressive-style defense, they’re really good front. Bunch of first round picks all over that all over that front. I thought most part our guys did a really nice job of just battling.”
